The Mix FM service area reaches a population of over 300,000 people and covers the Sunshine Coast from Noosa to Caboolture. With a growing rate of over 6% per annum, the Sunshine Coast is now a major regional centre and ranks as the 11th largest community in Australia. A consortium of leading Nambour business people started the Sunshine Coast Radio Centre in 1964, with the call sign 4NA. In 1984 it became 4SS to reflect the growing "Sunshine Coast". In 1994, with the opportunity to convert to FM, 92.7 Mix FM was launched at midnight on New Year's Eve.
